He spent a lot of money. He was forced from his job. But now Allaudin Merali is saying media reports of his spending practices while he was chief financial officer of Capital Health (now Alberta Health Services) were "without context and without regard to simple fairness."
This summer, reports of Merali's expenses began to trickle out, including expensive dinners and car allowances.
Those expenses chalked up between 2005 and 2008 totaled more than $346,000, causing a media stir and ultimately Merali's job.
