Early Life and Education

André Robert Rembour, later known as Bourvil, was born on July 27, 1917, in Prétot-Vicquemare, Seine-Maritime.

His father, Albert Rembour, died in the Spanish flu epidemic during World War I. His mother, Eugénie, remarried shortly after. Bourvil spent much of his childhood in the village of Bourville, which inspired his stage name.
